Eureka, Watson!! The mind begins to loosen and flow when the body becomes a giant stinky sweat gland!!
Saturday night marked another successful Echo Session, with Monuments and The Jealous Girlfriends laying down some really great sounds-- can’t wait to release the records! All those involved braved a stiflingly hot studio in Red Hook to support the bands’ live and valiant sets as they were recorded to 1/2” 2-track tape… that’s some heady stuff brothers and sisters…
This past Sunday at McCarren Pool was pretty spectacular-- I got to see my yummy man Gordon play quite a crafty pedal steel with The Coydogs as they played a bill with I’m From Barcelona and Blonde Redhead… I love Japanese girls who sensuously yet carefully writhe and hot-rock my face off. BR was really quite amazing… and I’ll admit it, backstage access is like cheese-- it makes everything taste better. Got to see my favorite Gemini brothers Aku and Akwetay from Dragons of Zynth, along with some others from the Cult of Kip.
And just last night I had that Eureka! moment, when I realized that I’m itching to write and that I’ve got all these great new jams to kick out! It happens every year around this time, so I’ve assessed that I must be “on fire” because of the sweltering heat!
On the record player:
John Denver - “Windsong"… mornings never felt better, folks!
Dolly Parton - “The RCA Years"… Dear Jesus, please don’t let me die without meeting Dolly Parton.
