A Brooklyn monument goes the way of the dinosaur, and with it some pretty cRRRRRazy shit!
Broken Angel is this building in Brooklyn… A constant, puzzled scrutiny has always surrounded the structure and its inhabitants, reported to be an old couple, artists, perhaps touched, perhaps by God, perhaps by the saint of We-Do-Whatever-the-Fuck-We-Wanna-Do-To-This-Building-And-Otherwise!
Anyhoo, looks like the developers finally had their chance and it’s coming down. Down the stories-high glass citadel! Down the stained-glass cathedral windows! And talk about a kitchen timer-- Down the little peep-hole in said kitchen reported to have a telescope trained at the downtown Brooklyn clock tower!
I’ll do my best to provide the pictures of her slow and steady demise. Here’s the first.
And if you’re reading this and you’re anywhere near NYC on June 14th, then you know where you should be don’t you? That’s right, Bowery Ballroom, where Earl Greyhound’s got confetti cannons and rock n roll ready to melt your ever-lovin’ face off for this most mighty of home-coming shows! Tickets are blowin’ fast, so go on and get yours at http://www.ticketweb.com…
ADDENDUM: It turned out that Broken Angel was not, in fact, being torn down! The owner is in cahoots witha developer and they’re remodeling it and turning it into a great big Broken Angel apartment building for artists… I think I can deal with that!
