From the City of Angels to the City of Sin, Then All the Way Back Home Again

I’ve never met so many people so entirely dedicated to ROCKING THEIR FACES OFF THEIR HEADS in my life!!  Every town has its own breed of rocker, a complex concoction of the local weather, local vibes, and of course the local personalities, of which we met many interesting ones!  And though I cannot boast that I’ve cracked the code of any of these breeds, I can offer the following observations:
--The City of Angels really IS full of angels… the shows were transcendental-- Muscovine, the band that played before us at Silverlake Lounge, gave me that “rock n roll will never die” feeling as they played under the SALVATION sign…
--It was wonderful to see fellow rocker Ben Brewer from The Exit in San Diego-- many peeps begged us for ear plugs, standing as close as their ears could stand, which I choose to take as a good sign… Shit, do I take it as a sign that I might need earplugs too?
--The City of Sin was just fabulous and full of GOLD, GOLD, GOLD!!  Actually, more like a golden “sheen” on the Wynn Hotel, where I spent most of my time-- quite the classy joint!  We laid our heads at the Frontier Hotel because it’s the first place Elvis played and they’re tearing most of it down next year, which I think is a good idea-- it’s a bit of a smoky DUMPO!  Like I said, this classy dame spent most of her time at the EXTRAVAGANTLY WEALTHY Wynn… Oh, and the show rocked too!  If Las Vegans can’t appreciate rock n roll showbiz, I don’t who can!
--TEMPE!  Talk about local flavor!  Now that’s a rock scene that’s up and running!  Great bands, great peeps, heads rocking, devil horns waving in the air, fuck YEAH! (Thanks for your hospitality P.C. and Kendra!)
--Ah Denver… Though it’s always a task getting used to the altitude, Denver rockers always bring it and shoot me the extra energy I need to keep huffing away!  This is really a great American mountain town, where winter somehow feels like a season you don’t mind coming home to…
--The people of Omaha really are a special breed… I had some technical difficulties with my bass, and the soundman ran home six blocks in the bitter cold to get his for me!  Everyone stuck around and waited til we got it together!  People traveled upwards of 100 miles to see the show!  Then afterwards, EVERY SINGLE PERSON I talked to gave me a HUG!  As cold as Omaha was, it sure had a bunch of big ol’ midwestern hearts full of LOVE!
--God bless Columbia, Missouri!  A precious jewel of a town… The Blue Note-- quite a legendary space-- was such a pleasure to play, its inhabitants wide-eyed and receptive to the many varied sounds of the evening.  And a place to eat crunchy hippie healthy food for the first time in weeks!  Woo hoo!
--And what can I say about ST. LOUIS??!!  All those hot-rocking bodies!  People jumping up and down and screaming their faces off.  Thanks for such a send-off St. Louie, can’t wait to come back!

Well, it’s my aim to be a bit more on top of these blog entries next tour, which begins in just a couple weeks… there should be plenty of yum yum, as we’ll be touring with a couple of the best bands in the world-- The Slip and Apollo Sunshine-- so stay tuned!  And check out some of the bands here at The Periodic Label, quite a motley bunch and worth a listen!

The People Have Spoken:

Hey Kamara - WELCOME HOME!!! Glad to see you all made it back safely! Thanks so much for the tour update. I’ve been chomping at the bit waiting for it. It’s our only connection for those who can’t make the shows. But I love all the YouTube videos from El Cid and Silverlake. Makes me feel I was right there with you. I’m glad all the cities treated you like royalty because EG is AWESOME!! Keep rocking and stay true to yourselves. All the best on your next tour. Love to ALL!!! miss you

Hey! You guys are fucking amazing. I saw you for the second time at the Bowery Ballroom and, I swear, that concert changed my life. I don’t think a day goes by when i don’t listen to at least part of Soft Targets. When are we gonna hear more studio Earl? I’ve heard great things about “The Ghost and the Witness” ...

Rock on!
